For those particularly interested in getting started with remote controlled boats, the first order of business is to choose the kind of boat that you are going to purchase.  While remote controlled boats come in four basic types; sail boats, electric boats, nitro-powered boats and gas powered boats.  By far the easiest boat for the beginning RC hobbyist is the electronic model.

The Basics of Electric Remote Control Boats

Electric RC Boats (also known as Fast Electric boats) are remote controlled boats that are powered by a battery instead of a fuel-powered engine. 

Fast electric rc boats come in a wide variety of styles and sizes.   The sizes of electric boats range from “toy” boats that can be purchased at a model shop or retail outlets to large Fast electric boats which can be over two feet in length.  Thanks to their quiet engines and relatively low speeds (as compared to gas and nitro-powered models); electric boats can be used on nearly any local surface where noise ordinances can restrict the use of gas and even of some nitro models.  As a result of their wide acceptance, the Fast electric segment of remote controlled boating has been growing exponentially.

Electric remote control boats can be purchased ready-made at the store, or they can be purchased as a kit which you then have to put together before it can be put out on the water.  If you like working with your hands you might want to purchase a kit.  If, however, you want to get right down to the boating, you may want to purchase a ready-made model.

How Do Electric Models Run?

The nice thing about electric boats is that they run on batteries, which means you don’t have to worry about messy re-fueling. You can use regular AA batteries or can opt for re-chargeable batteries, thus cutting down on your costs.  There have been decided improvements in the length of time a boat will run on battery power before it has to be re-charged.  With the most up-to-date models unless you are racing your boat at high speeds, a set of batteries can last for most of a day.  The one down side to electric rc boats is that one battery low on charge can cause your boat to stop responding.  This can be a real problem if the boat is out of retrieval range.  Keeping this in mind it is very important to always double check your battery power before you send your boat out on a long run.

Epic Escapes: Dark Seas

 

Usually when people have some kind of a phobia, they try to stay away from the source of their fear. But not all of them I guess. You are to join the main character of Epic Escapes: Dark Seas in facing his haunting fear. You will have to use your skills if you don’t want to die the worst death possible – death in fear.

 

 

After a party last night, you find yourself in somebody’s cabin and it seems like the ship is flooded.

 

So in the very beginning you are told that the man who is the main character in this game, has been haunted by a nightmare for the last seven years. The game shows you this nightmare. You are on a ship and a big meteorite falls into the ocean and causes tsunami-like storm.

All of that isn’t shown just in flat drawn pictures, but it is rather like a movie, where water seems to splash on your screen. That was a very nice twist for an impressive beginning.

 

Then you are told that you decided to face your fear on an actual cruise ship. And now after a party last night, you find yourself in somebody’s cabin and it seems like the ship is flooded.

 

Now your major desire is to escape this ship. But it doesn’t seem that easy, plus you are to dicover what is actually going on here. All of that is a great  background for a good adventure game that challenges you with finding different kinds of items that will provide you an escape.

 

After the big start graphicswise, the following scenes do not seem that impressing, but they still do a decent job. Most of the items in the hidden object scenes belong to the area.

 

You will usually have to accomplish several tasks in one scene. The hints are always available for help either with the hidden object levels or with the inventory or the interactive items. The game is good in its many aspects, but isn’t really stunning. That’s why it gets only four stars here.

 

The trial version will be a good thing if you can not decide if you want to buy this game.
