For my you Tube friends who do not ordinarlily see what I do online via Face Book and etc. Music from Classic Maritime Music in accompiment to slide show. Some of the models are in progress some are complete. Models located at Warburton Model Shipbuilders Newport, RI.The first model is one I obtained from when i purchased the contents of the ship model studio of Alfred S. Brownell and his understudy of 10 years Sarkis Bezigian. The model was not finished it sat in a makeshift cradel on the work table withtthe spars all made laying next to it, with a pile of black and white photos of the model under construction in 1958. Alfred Brownell died unexpectedly in 1959, leaving much work that had commissioned to them by Howard I. Chapelle, then Curator of the Division of Transportation at the Smithsonian Insititute in Washington, DC. Mr Chapelle and Mr. Brownell were friends as well as business associates. Mr. Brownell was among the finest American Model Builders of his time. His death left Sarkis, I believe overloaded, some models that were let by Chapelle for the museum, more than likely cancelled do to an inordinate amount of work for one man. Chapelle, Bezigian and Mrs. Brownell were of course devastated by the loss of Alfred. Mr. Brownell’s and Mr. Bezigian models are on display in the Providence Public Library, University of Pennsylvania at Erie, Smithsonian Institute, United States Naval War College Museum, As a tribute to Mr. Brownell and Mr. Bezigian, I decided, finally …
