Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is a 2011 American adventure fantasy film and the fourth installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. In the film, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is joined by Angelica (Penélope Cruz) in his search for the Fountain of Youth, confronting the infamous pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane). The plot draws inspiration from the novel On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers, which also inspired the LucasArts game The Secret of Monkey Island. It is directed by Rob Marshall, written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
When Captain Jack Sparrow crosses paths with the enigmatic Angelica, he’s not sure if it’s love — or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge,” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard, Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past.

Jack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.
The movie was distributed by Walt Disney Pictures and was released in the United Kingdom and Italy on May 18, 2011, in Australia on May 19, 2011, and in the United States and Canada on May 20, 2011. The release was presented in Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3D, as well as in traditional two-dimensional and IMAX formats. The film was first announced in 2008 and principal photography started in June 2010. The release was the first in the series to be directed by Rob Marshall and not Gore Verbinski. It was also the first movie in the series which featured fictional versions of historical characters such as Blackbeard, George II of Great Britain, Henry Pelham, John Carteret and Ferdinand VI of Spain. It was the first Pirates of the Caribbean film to be released in 3D and Jerry Bruckheimer’s second 3D film, following the 2009 movie G-Force. It was also the fifth Disney film to use Dolby 7.1 surround sound. While previous films in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise have been filmed in the Caribbean Sea, On Stranger Tides was filmed mainly in Hawaii.
Plot
Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) travels to London to locate a person who has been impersonating him. The imposter has been recruiting a crew to search for the legendary Fountain of Youth. First Sparrow rescues his former first mate, Joshamee Gibbs (Kevin McNally), who is about to be hanged, though the two are captured. Jack is brought before King George II (Richard Griffiths), who wants him to guide an expedition to the Fountain of Youth before the Spanish find it. Heading the expedition is Jack’s old nemesis, Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), now a privateer in service to the British Navy after having lost Jack’s ship, the Black Pearl, as well as his leg.
Jack escapes, and is found by his father, Captain Teague (Keith Richards), who warns Jack about the Fountain’s tests. Jack then discovers that the imposter is Angelica (Penélope Cruz), his former lover and daughter of the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), who posseses several magical powers, including the ability to shrink other ships down to miniature size and contain them within bottles (the fate of the Black Pearl). Blackbeard is also a master of voodoo, and has rendered his most trusted lieutenants into completely loyal, seemingly invulnerable zombies, in addition to being able to create working voodoo dolls. Finally, Blackbeard possesses a magical cutlass that gives him total control over the rigging of any ship, allowing him to easily subdue a crew by tying them up with the ropes. Blackbeard forces Jack to join his crew and lead them to the Fountain to circumvent a prophecy that a one-legged man will soon kill Blackbeard. Meanwhile, Gibbs, who memorized, then destroyed Sparrow’s map, joins Barbossa’s crew in order to beat Blackbeard and the Spanish to the Fountain.

Aboard Blackbeard’s ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, Angelica reveals that the Fountain’s water must be drunk from silver chalices once belonging to Juan Ponce de León, and that one chalice must contain a mermaid’s tear. Whoever drinks from the chalice without the tear will die; while the person drinking from the chalice with the tear will have their life magically extended, by “all the years the other person has lived, and all they might have lived”. Blackbeard intends to use this magic to circumvent his fated encounter with the one-legged man, and so the Queen Anne’s Revenge heads to Whitecap Bay, where he traps a mermaid that a captive missionary, Philip Swift (Sam Claflin), later names Syrena (Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey). Blackbeard then sends Sparrow to steal the chalices from de León’s grounded ship. Sparrow arrives finding only Barbossa: the Spanish have already taken the chalices.
Barbossa admits he only wants to kill Blackbeard for capturing the Black Pearl, forcing Barbossa to amputate his own leg to escape in the process. He and Jack devise a plan to defeat Blackbeard; they then steal the chalices from the Spanish camp nearby. Meanwhile, Angelica tricks Syrena, who has fallen in love with Philip (who returns those feelings), into shedding a tear, which Blackbeard collects, then leaves her to die while forcing Philip to go with him. Sparrow returns with the chalices and Gibbs, who he had reunited with while helping Barbossa. Jack blackmails Blackbeard to get back his confiscated magical compass (which points in the direction of whatever the person holding it desires most) and to free Gibbs in exchange for giving him the chalices and leading them to the Fountain. Blackbeard accepts Jack’s terms and Jack continues to lead them, while Gibbs, who is let go, departs with Jack’s compass.
At the Fountain, Blackbeard and his crew are attacked by Barbossa and the Spanish, who have been sent by the king to destroy the Fountain, believing its ability to grant eternal life to be an abomination against God. After a lengthy fight, Barbossa stabs Blackbeard with a sword laced with lethal venom from a poison dart frog, but Angelica is also wounded by it. Barbossa then steals Blackbeard’s magical sword and escapes alongside Blackbeard’s former crew. Philip, mortally wounded, escapes and returns to Syrena and frees her. After finding the chalices and giving them to Sparrow, Syrena returns and takes the dying Phillip underwater to heal him.
Angelica intends to sacrifice her life so that her father will live, but Sparrow tricks Blackbeard into drinking from the chalice without the tear while Angelica drinks from the other, killing Blackbeard and saving Angelica. However, suspecting she may try to avenge her father’s death, Sparrow strands her on an island, intending for a passing ship to find her. After much bantering, they both declare their love for each other, but Jack still leaves her on the island knowing she is untrustworthy. Jack then meets up with Gibbs, who used Sparrow’s compass to find the Revenge and has retrieved all the shrunken ships, including the Black Pearl, before Barbossa sets sail. The two head off, hoping to find a way to return the Pearl to its original size.

Ahoy Matey! Pirates, buccaneers, privateers, corsairs, whatever you may call them, who really are these long haired, one eyed, wooden legged men? Well known since the early 1700’s, pirates never seem to get old. One of my favorite pirate movies is the record breaking, box office hit “Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean. Did you know that this movie was actually named after a popular Disney ride? Captain Jack Sparo, portrayed by the famous Johnny Depp, is a great example of what we picture a pirate to be. In real life, they dressed in checked shirts, long canvas trousers, red waist coats and wore a handkerchief around the neck, similar to an average sailor. They where private sailors who attacked and robbed snipes and plundered villages for their ” loot” or stolen valuables. Unlike popular belief, they did not really steal gold and bury them. They did steal food, fresh water and even soap. Yes, they did at times steal ships, either to sell or keep for themselves because the ship was better then their own.
Kids adore them. They love the look of the pirate that they see on TV with its tricorn hat (popular three cornered hat), long boots and beards, cool swords and colorful clothing. If your child enjoys these cool privateers, they would love having their own pirate themed bedroom. Creating this fun theme is not that hard and can be quite affordable. Remove any carpeting from the floor and stay with the wooden floors which will be considered the ships wooden deck. A blue rug on the floor can also be considered to be the ocean. When it comes to bedding, Olive KIds Pirates is perfect choice. You can either choose the Olive Kids duvet cover or the Olive Kids comforter set. I would prefer the Duvet cover for kids but either one would be fine. The duvet cover features adorable pirate ships, treasure chests, sandy beaches and more on a light blue background that resembles the ocean. When you take a closer look, the duvet cover looks like a map. The comforter set is similar to the duvet cover. Purchase a toy treasure chest or a wooden chest to store your child’s favorite possessions and place a lock on it so your kids can feel as though they are storing away their hidden treasure. Place hooks on the walls so your little buccaneers can hang their favorite toy swords, captain hat and eye patch. And finally, hang a skeleton head flag by the bed and place a large map on the dresser or wall. Do not worry, there are skeleton flags that look more cute then scary.
Take a look at the bedroom duvet covers from Bedroom Duvet Spot. The Arya Bedding Collection is one of the most popular luxury duvet sets on the market today.

Ahoy There Mates! A Pirates Birthday Party is Fun!
Most little boys go through a swashbuckler period when they love everything to do with pirates. With the popularity of the Johnny Depp Pirates of the Caribbean movies, little boys and girls love to play pretend pirates.
Decorating Ideas
Gold, black and silver balloons will look great as will crepe paper in those colors as well. Hang pirate ship pictures and include some toy parrots for an authentic feel. Why not get a big, inflatable parrot to be the mascot. Have the kids dress up as pirates or provide them with hats, eye patches and vests. Don’t forget to include a sword for each. We have great foam pirate sword crafts so that each child can create their own unique sabers. You may even want to supply some plastic hooks for kids to use as their arms just like Captain Hook.
The invitation can be bought or created. You can make a treasure map of your house, keeping the clues simple and hide things for the children to find. This will be a great activity whether indoors or out.
Tables can be decorated with gold confetti and gold coins. You can use treasure mat placemats. In the middle of the table, get a treasure chest and fill it with trinkets such as colorful beads, and colorful crinkled paper to give a really authentic look.
Serve drinks out of bottles with Poison on them with XXX. Maybe have an inexpensive scope for each of the kids. You can have them walk the plank to a treasure chest piñata filled with lots of goodies. Play music that brings to mind the days of pirates, perhaps a soundtrack from a favorite pirate movie.
Have the kids watch a movie such as Hook or Pirates of the Caribbean. They will begin acting the part of the pirate as they watch their favorite characters onscreen. Have a pirate trivia contest where the kids can win some prizes.
Food Suggestions
Have children create their own pizzas using Boboli or English muffins. Give them plenty of toppings such as pepperoni, grated cheese, and crumbled sausage. Kids love burgers and hotdogs too, and of course a pirate themed cake and ice cream is always a welcome addition.
Other Ideas
Have a pirate parade in the backyard, take digital pictures and present each child with a picture before leaving. Get affordable picture frames and decorate them with pirate paraphernalia. There is no end to the fun that can be had at a pirate themed party. Not only will boys love it, but little girls too. Use imagination and creativity and come up with some great ideas the kids will enjoy. Get dressed as a pirate yourself and join in the fun!
